NAS Installation and Data Migration
Challenge: Ferris Kimball had growing data needs and stored all of their data on a desktop computer with no backup functionality or hard drive redundancy. Additionally, the desktop was being used as a client station, causing slowdowns in data access. Lastly, cost was a major issue.
Solution: All IT recommended a NAS server from Thecus, due to its reliability, easy of configuration, and rapid deployment. Additionally, because a NAS is different from a traditional server, there was a substantial cost savings. The NAS server offered only the file sharing and data redundancy capabilities that Ferris Kimball required, without any of the costly overhead of a traditional windows-based server. The entire migration was completed in less than a data, with minimal downtime. A scheduled data backup system with RAID 1 on the NAS, was also implemented. All of the client's data was transferred quickly and safely to the new server.
